Ørsted North America/Eversource Energy Sunrise Wind Project
Suffolk County
Renewable Energy
A global green energy company headquartered in Denmark, Ørsted develops, constructs and operates offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, energy storage facilities, renewable hydrogen and green fuels facilities – while employing nearly 9000 people worldwide. Their subsidiary, Eversource Energy employees 10,000 in the northeastern United States and provides safe, reliable and sustainable electric, gas, and water services to nearly 5 million customers.
In 2019 the Ørsted/Eversource consortium retained McBride Consulting and Business Development Group to act as their ambassador to the multitude of government agencies involved in bringing the Sunrise Wind Offshore Energy Project to life. MCBDG facilitated discussions, negotiations and collaborations between Ørsted/Eversource on matters related but not limited to land acquisition, advocacy, communications, permitting and licensing. MCBDG leveraged its connections and relationships from the state level with agencies and departments such as the Governor’s Office and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, down to the Suffolk County, town, and municipal level.
This involved massive outreach and lobbying efforts with agencies, elected officials, community groups, and other key stakeholders. MCBDG was successful in negotiating a Community Benefits Package with the Town of Brookhaven as well as drafting and implementing a successful community outreach plan that has resulted in strong community engagement and little to no opposition regarding the project. The all-in $4.2 billion dollar, 924 megawatt project will power approximately 600,000 homes upon completion.
New York State Power Authority and New York Transco Public/Private Partnership
Underground Lines
Stations Constructed
to Statewide Grid
Since 2022 McBride Consulting and Business Development Group has worked hand in hand with NY Transco, an owner/operator of bulk electric transmission facilities, substations, and nearly 120 miles of transmission lines on the Propel NY Energy Project.
In partnership with the New York State Power Authority, the largest state public power utility in the country with 17 generation facilities and 1,500 miles of transmission lines – constituting a quarter of all New York power, 80% of which is clean, renewable hydropower – the Propel NY Energy Project is a core infrastructure underground electric transmission line initiative. The project will add 90 miles of modern, bi-directional lines to the existing system, 80% of which was built before 1980. Propel NY will also add 4 new electrical substations and 3 additional ties connecting Long Island to the statewide grid, increasing the overall reliability, resiliency, and redundancy of the system.
Since the New York State Independent System Operator (NYISO) selected NY Transco for the project, MCBDG has spearheaded the engagement efforts on Long Island with elected officials, town and municipalities, community groups, and key stakeholders to proactively educate and update those groups on the Propel NY details and timeline. With the demand for electricity expected to grow between 50-90% over the next 20 years, Propel NY is a vital initiative to meet that need. Estimated as a $3.2 billion dollar project cost, every $1 invested into the Propel NY Energy Project will yield $2.40 in job growth and economic activity.
Nassau County, NY and Veolia Water Public/Private Partnership
Beginning in 2003, McBride Consulting and Business Development Group orchestrated a multi-billion dollar public/private partnership between Nassau County, NY and Veolia Water (formerly known as Suez Group) – for the operation of all county wastewater facilities.
This became the largest such project of its kind in the United States. Maintaining Suez Group as a client for over thirteen years, MCBDG then facilitated the successful transition of the county contract when Suez Group was acquired by Veolia Water, a global entity serving over 550 communities in North America. Significantly, MCBDG continues to provide invaluable service to Veolia Water – acting as the key facilitator between Nassau County Departments of Public Works and Finance in order to resolve work order and invoicing discrepancies.
Leveraging relationships with the County Executive, Deputy County Executive, Chief Counsel of the County Comptroller’s office and other key staff and stakeholders MCBDG has been able to rectify discrepancies – resulting in tens of millions of paid restitution.
Ørsted North America/Eversource Energy South Fork Wind Project
Emissions Eliminated
Renewable Energy
The South Fork Offshore Wind Energy Project was a multi-billion dollar utility investment that resulted in the completion of the first offshore wind turbine renewable energy project in the history of the United States and remains the largest such project to date. Located thirty five miles east off the coast of Montauk Point in Suffolk County, NY, the 12 turbine 132 megawatt wind turbine farm provides enough energy to power 70,000 homes with clean, sustainable energy.
In 2019 the Ørsted/Eversource consortium retained McBride Consulting and Business Development Group to act as their ambassador to the multitude of government agencies involved in bringing the South Fork Offshore Wind Energy Project to life. MCBDG facilitated discussions, negotiations, and collaborations between Ørsted/Eversource on matters related but not limited to, land acquisition, advocacy, communications, permitting and licensing. Nassau County, NY and Transdev North America Public/Private Partnership
Contract Extension
Communities
Starting in 2003, McBride Consulting and Business Development Group orchestrated and oversaw the implementation of a countywide public/private agency cooperative initiative between Nassau County, NY and Transdev North America Services, Inc. – the largest private operator and integrator of multiple modes of public transportation in the United States, including bus, paratransit, rail, etc.
Transdev is a global company operating in 19 countries with 102,000 employees worldwide. With over 17,000 vehicles in the United States, including 340 electric vehicles, Transdev is contracted to operate and maintain transportation systems in 400 cities and communities across the country. When Nassau County’s public transportation services were $84 million in debt, the administration was forced to scale back and reduce services, in the process all but completely eliminating paratransit capability and reducing the overall county transportation network to an industry low 60% on-time rating.
Through a successful public/private partnership, MCBDG developed the privatization of the county’s transportation operations and orchestrated with Transdev the realignment of services into what is now the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) system. This multi-million dollar operation remains the largest privatization of a county’s ground transportation in the history of the United States and is considered the model for such initiatives. The relationship between the county, Transdev, and MCBDG is now over 22 years. In addition to this, MCBDG just recently negotiated a 15 year contract extension between Nassau County and Transdev.
